Beautiful Freak, recorded in 1996, was the first full length release by the band Eels. Fronted by Mark Oilver Everett, the name 'Eels' was an attempt to get his records in the same general location in stores as his previous work, which had been under the name "E". It was also the first album released worldwide by DreamWorks Records,
Beautiful Freak contains an interesting mix of lo-fi, rock, hip-hop, and pop songs. '
